I'm sure your pet has a favorite when it comes to treats but did you know making treats at home is so simple and it won't break the bank. We live in the south and during the summer months it gets extremely hot so I was excited when I found some simple recipes that I could make at home that not only taste great but cool your pet as well. Another great thing about making treats at home is that they don't require many ingredients.
These frozen treats can be made with ingredients you probably already have at home. Some of my favorite ingredients to use are sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, strawberries and watermelon. The simplest combination is your choice of fruit or veggie along with plain low-fat yogurt. NOTE: Be sure to use yogurt that does NOT contain xylitol (it is toxic to dogs). I ordered my silicone molds from Amazon. They come in different shapes and are inexpensive.
Easy Frozen Dog Treats
1 Cup plain low fat yogurt
1 Cup dog-safe fruit or vegetables
1. Blend 1 part yogurt and 1 part fruit or veggie in a blender until smooth.
2. Pour mixture into silicone molds. Plate molds on a flat baking sheet and place in the freezer until solid.
These treats can be stored in an airtight container to help prevent freezer burn. Do you have a favorite recipe for making dog treats at home? We would love to hear about it. Join our community
