Not every military family gets stationed near the coast. Sometimes summer looks less like oceanfront views and more like apartment balconies, base housing patios, or tiny backyard setups squeezed between moving boxes and lawn chairs that have survived three PCS moves.
Your dog has been waiting for this moment since approximately last October. The door opens, the sun hits just right, and suddenly they’re sprinting laps like they’ve been personally selected for the zoomies Olympics.
April doesn’t just bring flowers….it brings mud. Thick, clingy, somehow-on-the-wall mud. Plus, if you are juggling a spring move, that mud will absolutely hitch a ride on your dog’s paws straight into whatever “temporary” living situation you’ve just spent 45 minutes sweeping.
There is nothing that flips your world upside down faster than a sick pet.
The toy bin will not close. There is stuffing under the couch that definitely did not come from a pillow. And somehow my dog is still carrying around the same flattened squeaky toy like it is priceless treasure, and don’t get me wrong, there are a few toys that are his favorite that I will allow him to keep for forever
I’ll admit something embarrassing…for a long time, I paid more attention to my dog’s coat than his teeth. I mean how many of us have done that, I think a lot of us are guilty of this.
